Remodel

Here is a sample of some of the remodeling projects we’ve completed.

This project consisted of removing everything in the room, all fixtures, wallpaper, lighting, flooring, etc. before leveling the floor, replacing small shower with large walk-in shower and an over-sized unused jacuzzi tub with a new Kohler soaking tub.  After the fixtures were in place we added a new vanity, new floor and wall tile, faucets, lighting and shelving.  The homeowner said that prior to the remodel she never took a bath, now she has a bath every day.

The homeowner always wanted a black and white kitchen.  The goal of this remodel was to provide a cost effective remodel that improved the flow and the layout of the space while tying it in with the rest of the house.  We removed all of the kitchen cabinets, installed new lighting, closed in an awkward pass through from the kitchen to the hall (it was weird, we have no idea why it was there), installing cabinets in a dead corner (see below) and replaced the flooring with laminate that matched the  flooring in the rest of the house.

Kitchen Corner Before

The homeowner hated this corner she felt it always looked cluttered and messy.  Also, she loves to bake and she didn’t feel she had enough counter space.  By closing in the pass through (it was behind the cabinets on the right) we were able to give here a dedicated corner for her baking prep and solve the open storage problem.  By increasing the height of the cabinets from 30″ to 42″ installing corner cabinets, and solving a design problem we were able to provide enough storage to eliminate the clutter.  This homeowner was so happy we went on to complete several other rooms in her home, and paint the exterior of her house as well.

Bland White Guest Bath Before

Bland White Guest Bath AfterThis bathroom update was done on a tight budget.  Even so everything in this bathroom is new.  Some of the money saving ideas included an inexpensive field tile for the shower with a band of a striking accent tile, big box store vanity in a dark finish, and vinyl plank flooring in teak instead of tile on the floor.  Vinyl plank flooring is amazing stuff.  It can go right over existing vinyl, locks together with a tongue and groove style overlap, is soft underfoot, gives the appearance of wood (it really does, some products are so good you have to touch them to see what they are), mops up like a dream, and usually costs less than $2 a square foot.

Yurt

Exterior Outhouse

Interior Outhouse

These last three photos are an example of some of the “new construction” projects we do.  This particular client has a one bedroom house and they needed guest accommodations.  They settled on a yurt, which is a large round tent.  We built a round platform to support the yurt, installed bamboo floor on the platform, erected, the yurt, then built a covered deck with wrap around stairs.  Once we finished the yurt the homeowner realized they needed a guest bath so we constructed the mack daddy of all outhouses.  This outhouse is cedar inside and out with a bamboo floor and a custom corner vanity made out of cedar and bamboo with a pottery sink and a water crock for running water.  The business side of the outhouse is a composting toilet designed for a boat.  The yurt and outhouse project was a true collaboration between our company and the homeowner and the projects came out better because of it.
